Belleville, by way of the Silk Road

Located in the Belleville neighborhood of Paris, Babel captures the eclectic, bohemian character of the area. This hotel bar and restaurant takes its locavore commitments seriously, featuring products from local producers and suppliers (coffee from the Brûlerie de Jourdain; beer from Belleville-based brewery; meat products from Chez André, a neighborhood butcher; fruits and vegetables from the Zingam greengrocer; spirits from the Distillerie de Paris) and partnering with several community organizations. The kitchen is run by a three-person team that reflects the diversity of the Belleville neighborhood: Franco-Afghan chef Clarie Feral Akram, Belleville-born Sofiane Sadi Haddad, and a rotating refugee chef-in-training from Refugee Food Festival. And on Saturdays, local women take the lead for the lunch service. Taste the flavors of the tower of Babel without leaving Belleville!
