Bringing brunch back to the basics

Createdin 2010 by two sisters—Margot and Scarlette—the Marlette concept began by selling original baking mixes made with organic, unrefined ingredients. By 2014, the sisters opened their first Australian-style coffee shop in Paris. Decorated to reflect the sisters’ coastal upbringing on the Île de Ré in the Charente-Maritime region, near La Rochelle, each of Café Marlette’s five Paris locations serves classic brunch fare, upscale comfort food, and Marlette-brand baked goods. Part of what sets Marlette apart is what you won’t find on themenu: avocado toast. “Doing away with avocado was like leaping into the void,” the sisters explain, but the environmental impact of the popular brunch ingredient was deemed too detrimental. Quality, sustainable ingredients are the source of Marlette’s success.
