A taste of Lebanon, with a twist

On Avenue Jean-Jaurès in Paris’s 19th arrondissement, Tintamarre’s aureolin yellow awning stands out beneath the French capital’s characteristically grey skies. Tintamarre offers a fresh take on classic Lebanese cooking, departing from the “redundant” dishes so often seen in Middle Eastern shops in France. Born in Beirut, chef Gabrielle wanted to open a restaurant in her own image: ”ethical, accessible, and sensible.” This sunny, understated restaurant serves recipes inspired by Gabrielle’s childhood in Lebanon, updated seasonally with fresh, organic ingredients and quality Lebanese products. To limit food waste (there’s no space for waste in this little restaurant!), Gabrielle leaves all her vegetables unpeeled, and she reuses leftover bread to make zaatar-spiced chips or as breadcrumbs for her bestselling fried halloumi croquettes. Trust us—they’re authentic, delicious, and addictive!
